The TCS New York City Marathon is the largest marathon in the world and the signature event
of New York Road Runners (NYRR), the world’s premier community running organization. The race is held annually on the first Sunday of November and includes over 50,000 runners, from the world’s top professional athletes to runners of all ages and abilities, including over 9,000 charity runners.

Participants from approximately 140 countries tour the diverse neighborhoods of New York City’s five

boroughs—Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. Race morning also features the Rising New York Road Runners Youth Invitational at the TCS New York City Marathon, a race within Central Park that finishes at the same finish line being crossed hours later by the marathon field.

NYRR announced an important policy change. In order to ensure the health and safety of our community, starting with the NYRR Midnight Run over New Year’s, all runners taking part in any NYRR adult race will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Runners who will be able to show proof of full vaccination do not need to take any action at this time.

Marathon Opening Ceremony Presented by United Airlines

The official Marathon opening ceremony takes place in Central Park between 4.45 – 7pm. This spectacular event will kick off Marathon Weekend on Friday night in Central Park! Marathoners and guests from around the world will join together for a spectacular international celebration

Registration takes place at the Jacob K Javits Convention centre on 11th Avenue at 35th Street.

Runners who wish to participate must enter the drawing during their registration process
